ARCHIVED - Region of Valencia still has the lowest incidence rate in Spain: Alicante Covid update April 6
43 new cases in the region of Valencia and 25 in the province of Alicante
The regional coronavirus bulletin published on Tuesday (April 6) reports 43 new Covid cases in the region of Valencia and 25 in the province of Alicante, showing a decrease in the region from Monday’s figure of 120, while the number of cases has remained roughly the same in the province of Alicante.
Taking into account the latest figure of 25, the 7-day average number of new Covid cases in the province of Alicante is 45. The number of coronavirus patients in the province’s hospitals is 186, of whom 35 are in intensive care.
In Monday’s update, 3 new deaths caused by coronavirus were reported in Alicante, bringing the total number of fatalities in the province since the start of the pandemic to 2,729.
In the Comunidad Valenciana there were 5 deaths reported in the latest update and there are currently 406 people hospitalized with Covid, while the total number of active cases in the region is 3,424: over 50,000 fewer than at the height of the third wave at the end of January.
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days in Comunidad Valenciana is still the lowest in Spain by far at 32.61, followed by the Balearics (63.76) and the Region of Murcia (64.78). On the other end of the scale, the regions with the highest cumulative incidence rates are Navarra (363.28), Madrid (287.69) and the Basque Country (272.87), so although the rate in the Valencia region has increased over the last few days, it is still the lowest in mainland Spain.
