Streaming platform Netflix has announced the arrival of its ad-supported tier accounts in twelve countries, including Spain. The new packages, available from 5pm on November 10, will start at just 5.49 euros per month for users who don’t mind watching ads.

The subscription will also be available in Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

According to Netflix, viewers who opt for the budget plan can expect around four or five minutes of ads per hour. The ads will be between 15 and 30 seconds long and will play before, during and after an episode or movie.

The plan is accompanied by a series of controls for advertisers, with the idea that they can "reach the right audience" and ensure that the ads displayed "are relevant to consumers."

Unfortunately, due to licencing restrictions, certain films and series are still not available, but Netflix has assured that they are working on sorting out the issues. It will also not be possible to download content and watch it later offline, although users will still be allowed to cancel their subscription or upgrade to a different package at any time.

The Basic With Ads plan will also incorporate traffic validity and viewability verification tools alongside DoubleVerify and Integral, which will be available in the first quarter of 2023.
