ARCHIVED - Benidorm beaches awarded flag of tourism excellence
The Qualitur flag is presented to the "best beaches" in the Valencia region on the Costa Blanca.
Benidorm's beaches and coves in the Marina Baixa, Alicante province, have been awarded the Qualitur flag for "tourist excellence" by the Valencia Tourism Agency.
The flag is awarded in recognition of the cleanliness of the waters and sands, as well as sanitary hygiene measures and recreation and leisure facilities on offer, and has been unfurled alongside the prestigious international Blue Flags at the resort's Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas beaches.
The coves of Ti Ximo and Almadrava have also been accredited for their "excellent quality", and Qualitar flags will be raised at these popular spots over the next few days after an award ceremony in El Campello, also in Marina Baixa, 34 km from Benidorm, today (Tuesday, June 22).
To maintain its position as the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca, popular with national and international tourists, Benidorm has hired dozens of 'tourist informants' to offer assistance and help safeguard its famous coastline this summer.
