Brit arrested at Mallorca airport accused of raping his girlfriend
The UK tourist was reportedly trying to flee Spain when island police picked him up
A British holidaymaker was arrested trying to board a flight from Mallorca’s La Palma Airport at around 11am on Sunday July 9. The man was reportedly heading back to the UK just hours after his girlfriend reported to local police that he had raped her.
The alleged sex attack occurred at 6am that same morning at a three-star hotel in the party resort of Magaluf. According to official reports, the woman, also understood to be British, told officers her partner had forced himself on her in the hotel bathroom.
The man, as yet unnamed, was picked up by Guardia Civil officers and will face a judge on Monday July 10 after spending the night behind bars.
This disturbing incident comes just weeks after another British tourist was arrested in Magaluf accused of raping his son’s girlfriend in their hotel room.
The 20-year-old victim, also believed to be from the UK, claimed the 45-year-old entered her hotel room through an adjoining door and attacked her in the middle of the night while his son was out partying.
Police arrested the suspect as he boarded a flight back to England, days before his scheduled departure date.
And back in March, another Briton was detained in Santa Ponsa for allegedly raping one female holidaymaker and attempting to assault her friend.
