ARCHIVED - British tourist, 53, drowns in 4-star Mallorca hotel swimming pool
The holidaymaker appears to have fainted while swimming close to the Spanish resort of Magaluf
A 53-year-old British man has become the latest tourist to lose his life in Spain after he drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Mallorca town of Palmanova on Sunday afternoon, July 17.
The alarm was raised at around 4.30pm when the holidaymaker fainted while swimming in the pool of the four-star Globales Palmanova hotel, just a stone’s throw away from the party resort of Magaluf.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and tried to revive the Briton but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken for postmortem to determine the exact cause of this tragic accident.
The victim has yet to be named and it is not known if he was holidaying alone or was accompanied by family or friends.
Drowning incidents such as this are becoming all too common in Spain’s popular holiday resorts: back in May, a British toddler died in a private swimming pool near Benidorm and just this weekend, a 75-year-old man drowned on Playa de los Nietos in Cartagena.
