British woman sexually assaulted by UK tourist at Spanish resort
The 20-year-old holidaymaker was attacked by a man staying at the same Magaluf hotel
A 48-year-old British man has been arrested in the Mallorca resort of Magaluf on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young tourist from the UK who was staying in the same unnamed hotel.
The 20-year-old victim told hotel staff that the man, whom she’d never met before, approached her suddenly from behind and put his hands down her trousers, touching her private parts. The resort receptionist phoned the local police and they quickly arrested the suspect.
Magaluf Guardia Civil have taken over the investigation into the sexual assault but it’s not yet clear whether the Briton has been remanded in custody or released on bail.
The ever-popular hotspot has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately and earlier this week a local company was fined a whopping 161,000 euros for packing hundreds of tourists onto boats for so-called booze cruises.
Many holiday hotspots like Magaluf and Ibiza have outlawed these alcohol-fuelled boat parties in a bid to stamp out the reputation of the Balearic Islands as a wild party destination.
And just last month another British holidaymaker was picked up by police trying to board a flight to the UK at La Palma Airport hours after his girlfriend claimed he had raped her in their Magaluf hotel bathroom.
Also in July, two Irish men were detained at the same airport about to board a flight home to Dublin. A British woman contacted Magaluf police and accused the holidaymakers of raping her at her hotel.
