ARCHIVED - Call to shop locally in El Campello
The Alicante town is promoting Local Commerce Day October 25
Residents in El Campello are being urged to spend their money locally and support the "extensive and varied selection of shops", rather than travelling elsewhere.
The municipality is promoting Local Commerce Day on October 25, a regionwide initiative declared by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), and backed by the Regional Ministry of Economy, which aims to "encourage consumers to opt for traditional businesses when shopping, thus boosting their potential in terms of generating wealth and jobs".
"Now, more than ever, we are calling on the population to support local businesses, those that are always there in the best and worst of times, whatever circumstances we are going through, as was demonstrated during the health pandemic when they continued to supply all kinds of products despite the restrictions on mobility," said El Campello's councillor for commerce, Mari Carmen Alemañ.
She added that El Campello's commerce is as varied as it is extensive, so it's "not necessary to travel to another municipality or large supermarkets" to guarantee supplies.
"By buying from local shops we support the local economy, we help hundreds of families to overcome the crisis and recover, as well as enjoying a personalised service. Local commerce is and will always be the best option," added Alemañ.
