ARCHIVED - Covid passport extended until January 31 in Valencia
The Covid certificate will be required to access all hospitality venues in Valencia, regardless of capacity
The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has authorised the extension of the Covid passport until January 31 in all places where it was already mandatory to present it.
In addition, it will now be required to access the interior of all bars, restaurants and hospitality establishments regardless of their capacity, as well as in gyms, cinemas, circuses, swimming pools, sports facilities and all other venues where food or drink are consumed.
The Court believes the expansion of the Covid passport is “suitable, necessary and balanced, insofar as it derives more benefits or advantages for the general interest than damages”.
The TSJCV concluded that requiring a cert in these establishments only poses a very “tenuous” limitation on certain fundamental human rights.
Until January 31, patrons of these venues will have to provide proof of double vaccination, of having recovered from coronavirus or a negative Covid test.
In addition to the restrictions in Valencia, from Christmas Eve it will be mandatory throughout Spain to wear a mask in most outdoor spaces.
