ARCHIVED - Seriously hurt expat hiker in helicopter rescue after three-metre fall in Benitatxell
The 63-year-old fell whilst hiking along the Cala Llebeig route in the Marina Alta area of Alicante province
A 63-year-old non-Spanish hiker was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to Denia Hospital after falling at least three-metres from a mountain track whilst following the Cala Llebeig route in Benitatxell.
The alarm was raised at around 3.15pm on Wednesday May 11, and an Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium air rescue team was immediately sent to the scene, along with a SAMU ambulance.

Sources have confirmed the "foreign national" sustained a brain injury and polytrauma.
Once the firefighters had located and safely rescued the injured hiker, he was airlifted to Denia fire station and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Less than 24 hours later, firefighters rescued a 34-year-old woman who sustained a possible dislocated ankle canyoning in the Barranco de la Mela, Alicante province. She was airlifted to St Vincent Park and taken to hospital by ambulance.
