ARCHIVED - What Covid paperwork do you still need to enter Spain? The end of the SpTH form for all travellers
Passengers arriving in Spain from the UK don’t need to complete the form
With most of Europe confident that we are finally emerging from the coronavirus pandemic, the Spanish government has completely scrapped the SpTH Covid health control form for all passengers arriving by both sea and air.
This means that from Tuesday September 20, 2022, travellers arriving from the UK and other third countries don’t need to complete the long-winded Covid form, which asks for information on vaccination status and other personal details, or download the Spain Travel Health mobile app.
The Official State Gazette (BOE) published on September 19 explains that ditching the measure aims to “favour the normalisation of international mobility, with the least possible impact on public health”.
“The measures to limit international mobility must be applied in compliance with the general principles of Union Law, and must not go beyond what is strictly necessary to safeguard public health and must be lifted when the epidemiological situation, particularly in hospitals, allows it,” the Ministry of Health explained.
However, Britons and other third country nationals were dealt a travel blow this week as the Spanish authorities decided to maintain certain other travel restrictions until November 15. While Spain now welcomes unvaccinated non-EU tourists, they will continue to require either proof of a negative coronavirus test prior to entering the country or proof of recent recovery from Covid.
