Torrevieja Animal Shelter is now open all year round
The municipal shelter in the Vega Baja town, Alicante is now open 365 days a year, "something that has never happened before"

In what Torrevieja Council has referred to as a "turning point in animal care in the town", the Municipal Animal Shelter will now be open all year round.
As of this week, the facility for abandoned, abused and neglected animals will open its doors Monday to Sunday, including public holidays, from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm.
Town councillor for Animal Protection, Concha Sala, said the extended hours has been made possible thanks to the willingness of all the staff and volunteers "to keep the shelter open all year round, something that has never happened before".
"This means that there are more opportunities for people to visit the facilities and, above all, the volunteers will have more time to carry out their work of caring for the animals, accompanying and walking the pets more comfortably," she said.
The Animal Protection councillor also stated that the new opening hours are a "turning point" in animal care in Torrevieja and referred to the construction of new facilities at the shelter that are still going through the administrative process.
