ARCHIVED - Tragic ending for Denia dolphin
The dolphin was found dead shortly after being spotted near the Alicante beach
A struggling dolphin appeared very close to the coast of Les Deveses beach in Denia on Sunday afternoon, June 5, stunning lifeguards and bathers at its proximity to the shore. It was immediately apparent that the animal was sick, and lifeguards did their best to usher the dolphin back out to sea.
However, despite their efforts, the cetacean was sadly found dead on the beach of l’Almadrava a short time later by members of the Oceanografic de Valencia, who have since removed its body from the water and will carry out a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
