ARCHIVED - Unconscious French hiker rescued from Alicante reservoir
The young woman was airlifted to hospital after passing out at Guadalest Reservoir 20km from Benidorm in the Marina Baixa area of Alicante province
Alicante firefighters rescued a young French woman who lost consciousness whilst hiking with a companion at Guadalest Reservoir, a natural area 20km from Benidorm that is hugely popular with walkers and sightseers.
The woman's fellow hiker raised the alarm at around 2pm on Sunday July 3 after the 25-year-old fainted and failed to regain consciousness.
The rescue helicopter Alpha 01 and GER mountain rescue group were quickly mobilised to the scene and the victim was airlifted to Alicante Firefighters' Consortium's San Vicente base where a Basic Life Suport ambulance was waiting to transfer her to a nearby hospital.
