ARCHIVED - VIDEO: Police probe after clip of van driver ramming two men on the Costa del Sol goes viral
There's much more to the terrifying footage in Alhaurín del Grande than initially meets the eye
Footage of a van driver appearing to ram two men into a wall on an urbanisation in Alhaurín del Grande, Malaga province, has caused quite a stir on social media and sparked a police probe.
The video was filmed on Saturday October 29 and shows a motorist drive straight into two men in broad daylight. However, it has since emerged the 'victims' had just allegedly attempted to steal cables to extract copper from a nearby property.
The theft was apparently thwarted by the owner before the alleged wannabe thieves drove off in a car. Shortly afterwards, they stopped the vehicle and got out, walking along the street.

The clip, shared on the SocialDrive Twitter platform, shows that seconds later, a white van pulls up a few metres behind.
At this moment, another man, believed to be a homeowner, approaches the two males on foot before the van speeds up and careers into the men.
Nobody looks to be badly hurt and the 'thieves' run off in different directions, with the third man in pursuit of one of them, but they managed to get away.
According to reports, the police were only made aware of what had happened when the video appeared on social media. A police investigation is underway to trace the two men who initially appear in the clip – although they have the identity of one of them after he left documentation in the parked car.
Investigators are also trying to officially establish exactly why the van driver rammed the pair in the first place.
