VIDEO: Violent fugitive from Germany captured in Rojales, Alicante
The Kazakhstan-born kidnapper is fighting extradition from the Vega Baja

Spanish authorities have arrested a fugitive wanted by Germany for kidnapping and assault. The 36-year-old man, originally from Kazakhstan, was detained in Rojales, Alicante, following a joint operation between the National and Local Police forces.
According to reports, the fugitive was being sought by the German authorities for his role in a violent home invasion that occurred in the city of Hamm in August 2021. It is alleged that the man, along with three accomplices, entered a couple's home armed and wearing balaclavas. The thieves proceeded to tie the homeowners up and threaten them with a gun.
The assailants then forced the man to open his safe, from which they pocketed 4,000 euros in cash, jewellery and other valuables. They also stole another 1,500 euros that the victim had in his wallet, his credit cards and a luxury watch worth 24,000 euros.
The suspect was tracked down to a hotel in Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, where he was arrested without incident. He appeared before the National Court via video conference on Thursday March 14 and formally charged and remanded in custody.

It later transpired that the suspect had gone to great lengths to alter his physical appearance, and that he also had a home address in Torrevieja.
This is not the first time the fugitive has been in trouble with the law. He has previously been arrested for carrying false documentation in Málaga in November 2021 and forcefully resisted arrest in Germany in June 2022 while under the influence of drugs. During the latter incident, a loaded machine gun and other weapons were found in his home.
The fugitive has refused extradition from the Vega Baja and will face trial in Spain. If convicted, he could face up to nine years and three months in prison, according to the European arrest warrant for extradition.
