Alicante set for power cuts this week as Iberdrola rolls out maintenance works
Planned outages to affect city neighbourhoods and seventeen other towns in province between 15 and 21 November
If you live in Alicante or nearby, you might want to put the kettle on early. Iberdrola has announced that parts of the city and seventeen other municipalities across the province will face planned power cuts this week as engineers carry out routine maintenance. The scheduled outages, which started on Saturday November 15 and are carrying on right through to Friday November 21, are intended to keep the network safe and maintain reliable service in the area, the company says.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The outages are planned for Alicante city as well as Agost, Elche, Altea, Benissa, Dénia, Busot, Calpe, Chirles, El Campello, El Verger, Elda, Guardamar del Segura, La Olla, Las Bayas, Muro de Alcoy, Xàbia, Pedreguer, and several other locations.
- If you live in Alicante, different neighbourhoods will experience outages at different times. For example, power will be off on some streets on Tuesday 18 November from 8.30am to 2.00pm, and again on Friday 21 November between 8.30 and 11.00am.
- Specific streets and building numbers affected in Alicante include Av Julian Besteiro, Cl Graphic Arts, Cl Comercio, Cl Ebanistería, Cl Transportes, Av Denia, Cl Astronomer Comas Sola, Cl Azorín, Cl Boyero, and Cl Vicente Chavarri, among others.
Iberdrola is advising residents not to carry out any maintenance on their own installations during the scheduled outages, as electricity could be restored without warning if works finish early. The company says, “Therefore, please avoid performing any maintenance on your installation during the outage period, as the service may be restored prematurely and this could lead to serious accidents.”
