ARCHIVED - Spain extends Covid entry restrictions on unvaccinated third country and UK travellers
Unvaccinated travellers from non-EU countries will not be allowed to enter Spain for tourism purposes until at least June 15
The Spanish Ministry of Interior has extended its current Covid-19 restrictions for third country nationals for another month, meaning that UK travellers will not be granted to entry to Spain unless they are double vaccinated or have a valid coronavirus recovery certificate.
The restriction, originally in place until May 15, has been extended until June 15, but the government has since announced that it will only be “a matter of days” before they reverse this decision and allow unvaccinated non-EU citizens into Spain just with a negative test.
“The border order to be issued by the Minister for Home Affairs extends all current restrictions on Spain’s external land, sea, and air borders under the recommendations of the Council of the European Union due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19 until 24:00 hours on 15 June 2022, and replaces the current one, which expired on Sunday 15 May,” the statement of the Ministry reads.
Rules in place for third country citizens until June 15:
- Anyone over the age of 18 must provide proof of being double jabbed or have a Covid Recovery Certificate issued within the last 6 months. If the second vaccination was administered more than 270 days ago, a booster vaccination will be required.
- Teenagers aged between 12 and 17 who are not double jabbed or who have not recovered from Covid may present a negative PCR test received within the last 72 hours.
- Children under the age of 12 don’t need vaccinations or a negative test
- Proof of vaccination can be provided with either a valid NHS Covid pass or an EU Covid Certificate. Passengers who don’t have either will still have to complete a Passenger Locator Form prior to travel.

- A test certificate which shows that the traveller received a PCR or rapid antigen test within 72 hours or 48 hours before travel to Spain, respectively
